  1. Windows Movie Maker comes with Windows XP SP2. If you are running Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows XP SP1, just download the Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update and install it. You will get Movie Maker.
  2. If you have any operating system over Windows 2000, you already have it, you just need to open it. Go into your program files and look for the Movie Maker program folder. Click the moviemk icon and your set.
  3. there is a page called microsoft downloads. type that in and click search on that page click on the microsoft downloads listing on the page that comes up on the left side column click windows media on the top of the page that comes up is "search [windows media] v [ (2nd box) ] [GO] " = so in the second box type windows movie maker and click at the go that takes you to the page for movie maker to download it.
  4. If you are looking for windows movie maker with Service Pack 2. You need to install Service Pack 2 first. A newer version of Windows Movie Maker with SP2 comes with SP2. So once you have SP2 then you have a newer version with SP2. To get windows movie maker 2.1, you need service pack 2 installed on your system already. Windows movie maker 2.1 comes with service pack 2. Do you have service pack 1 already. Uninstall it and install service pack 2. First, you may want to check for windows updates and if you do not have service pack 2 already, you may be prompted to download and install it when checking for windows updates. Here is a video that will show you how to properly install service pack 2.1. Once you have installed that, you should already have windows movie make 2.1. After installing service pack 2, you can go to the windows movie maker, go to "Help" then "About" and it should tell you that you have 2.1. On the second line after selecting "About" you might see a version 5.1 and other numbers but do not let that confuse you. The actual version is 2.1 and you will find that on the last line. There is no 5.1 for windows xp at this time. Here's the video to watch about downloading and installing windows movie maker 2.1 along with doing the same with service pack 2. You cannot get windows movie maker 2.1 with service pack 1. It is not compatible and will not work with service pack 1. First part of the video explains how to restore the system if you had trouble with the software. You can ignore that if you never had the software and the video will get onto how to get service pack 2. End of the movie shows how to fix problems with windows movie maker 2.1 if you already have service pack 2. You can also ignore that. http://tutorialvid.com/viewvideo/253/Windows_Movie_Maker_2_1_Video_Tutorial__Downloading_and_installing_the_soft/?ref=Liz81 And, yes it is free. You should receive nothing (no packages) but the software itself with SP2. Email me at bigboy105us@yahoo.com if you have any questions, problems or need help.
