Does becoming an apple developer cost money?

I made an account with an apple id and all that with the developer part. I didn't join the mac software or iphone software programs or anything, I just made an account, is this going to cost me money?

1. Setting up an account won't cost a penny. But, if you decide to become an active developer, the SDK downloads will cost you.
