How come the itunes package won't install on my laptop it says I need to download Windows Installer?

I have windows 7 and it says when I try to install the package "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and you can access it, or you can contact the application vendor to verify that this a valid windows installer package." What should I do?

1. easiest route is to update your windows installer. google windows installer shield update. make sure you have the windows 7 version of itunes and this should work if not.
2. Might be that your Windows installer is corrupt somehow. Try downloading the redistributable package from Microsoft and reinstall it.
